Synthesis and Characterization of Silver Nanoparticles Using Alginate from the Brown Seaweed Laminaria ochroleuca: Structural Features and Antibacterial Activity

In this study, inexpensive and eco-friendly production of the silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was explored using Laminaria ochroleuca sodium alginate as stabilizing reducing agent. The synthesized were characterized by various analytical techniques such UV–Vis spectroscopy, Energy dispersive X-ray spectrometer (EDX), diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), TEM selected area (SAED), Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). synthesis AgNPs elucidated characteristic absorption peaks in test. FTIR revealed involvement many functional groups bioreduction stabilization AgNPs, while images illustrated spherical shape with maximum particles found size range 10-20 nm. Prominent rings shown XRD spectrum SAED pattern, respectively, confirmed crystalline nature (fcc) which to be thermally stable based on TGA analysis. exhibited strong antibacterial activity against Gram+ Gram– bacteria. interesting properties that could potentially used for pharmaceutical applications.
